WOW, #2 all time on the American junior list, 2nd to only Molly Huddle!! Chetelat is the REAL DEAL... amazing. Other top freshman were Babcock and Estrada, but Chetelat = freshman of the meet. What a race... really smart tactics, just picked off people one by one, ran great splits... anyone have the exact splits? Laurynne Chetelat has improved so much... she improved tremendously last season to almost beat Hasay, and at this point I would pick her over Hasay (granted, she's a year older). |

saw her running at a meet at uc davis 2 years ago, and even though she wasn't leading the race, her great running economy just stood out and you just knew, with training, she'd be something special. |

I agree, the way she (and Nicole Blood for that matter) slowly moved up in the ranks was perfect... just a prefect tactical race. For almost the whole race, maybe 13 laps, there was a huge pack of ~10 together the whole way and Chetelat was at the back of that pack... she kicked it in the last 600-800 or so to finish very well... right behind Blood. I think she will definitely get the AJR by the end of this season. It would be cool to see her on the track with Jordan Hasay at Cardinal Invite. |

great race by Chetelat, being her first 5k it seemed like she had lots more left. With a little more confidence and experience at the distance she will drop 15-20 sec by the end of the year. overall it seems like Dunn has things going in the right direction at Stanford. Impressive races by Derrick, Heath Brothers, Chetelat, Centrowitz through indoor and the first week of outdoor. and from the looks of it a good recruiting class on the way next year. |
