David McCarthy 3:57.75 in the mile. Hayden McLaren 3:57.78 in the mile. Both guys worked together and looked so smooth and comfortable, great team work! Should be exciting to see these two at NCAA's, they could both take home a medal!!! In the 3,000 meters, Freshman Dominic Channon ran 7:58.85, a New Zealand national junior record and maybe even an Oceanic Record, faster than Mottram's junior 3k time!!! Providence is on fire, should be exciting what they do at NCAA's!!! |

Providence is certainly on fire. That was an unbelievable meet for them. On the woman's side as well. Kim Smith 4:24 Mary Cullen 8:43. It seems like one guy they recruit is better than the next. I thought Max Smith was a beast. Now they have two 3:57's and a frosh 7:58. Jeez, what happened to this squad in cross. |

They also have Lee Carey who hasn't raced yet and he was almost as fast as Channon over 3k in high school. All of these guys have eligibility left and most of them plenty of it. This team will be a force to reckon with in cross country down the road. |

Yes, Lee Carey is a freshman, word is that he is redshirting indoor and outdoors. But he has run 8:12 for 3k when he was 18 years of age! Providence will definitely be competing for a top 10 spot at cross next year with these talents! |

Yeah 8.12 as an 18 year old that is amazing... i mean its not like US juniors are running nearly 30 seconds faster... no wonder uk distance running sucks if guys who run 8.12 are held in high regard... |

I was not coming at this from a providence point of view - I agree they could be up there next year. But the poster who I quoted had the name UK athletics and is obviously a Brit who thinks Carey's shit does not stink. My point was more that he needs to realize that there are probably 100 NCAA athletes who run 8.12 and as such he should not be held in such high regard. Ya Know! |
