So were two weeks away from the national meet. Who will be running what? Any predictions on what Kosgie will do? I think Kaul will focus on the 5k, while zdroik and sigl will try to help their teams in the DMR before coming back with the 5k the next day... Speaking of that DMR, it should be a sick race, especially since there are 5 WIAC teams! Holy crap... |

I heard through the grapevine that Kosgei will run the 800m indoors.

so he'll do the 800 and anything else? 800, mile would seem like a lot, and i suppose so is the 800 and 5k...Cuz the finals for the 800 would be right before the 5k i think....It seems weird that he would only do the 800, although I do think his best chance of winning would be in that or the mile. Too much depth in the 5k and kaul is looking good. |

although i think it will be tough to beat jimmy o'brien on his home track in the 800m |

If kosgie runs two 1 mile races (pre-lims and finals) before the 5k, i don't see him winning the 5k. |

why don't we all start spelling his name correctly, it's Kosgei |

I don't think Kosgei is the lock in the mile he's being made out to be. There was that Cortland kid who ran ran faster in the mile (but his time was converted because it was on a banked track). However, the Cortland kid went 4:09 in the DMR the night before, then came back after his 4:09.0 mile the next day and ran 1:55 in the 800. 1:55 isn't exactly blazing, but after back to back 4:09 miles, it shows some pretty decent strength. Then you have Butzler, who I'm sure will put up a qualifying time soon- last year he was the only guy who stayed even remotely close to Leer through that 26 second last lap. |

Will this be the year someone breaks 14:30 in the 5k? I sure hope so. |

the race is always so tactical and goes out so slow, tends to be tough to break 14:30 unless you want to run 2:00 on the last 8. but if someone takes the pace and makes it legit, no doubt a bunch will. |

why did that cortland kid run an 800 after two 1 miles..wow thats a lot. I think butzler will come on later in the season like he did last year. Kaul will take the 5k out hard i think since he will be fresh. Mostly everyone else like zdroik, sigl and kosgei if he runs will be doubling. Anyone think erichson will run fast enough to qualify? He has two weeks to do so... |

I'm betting Kaul will run on the Oshkosh DMR. He helped them win last year, and I'm sure he'll want to try to defend their title. |

Look for some fast qualifiers this weekend in the 800 and mile at WIAC's. Haven't seen the entries yet (think they were due today at noon), but the mile definitely could be sick. |

"That Cortland kid" what a blatant disrespect for competition.... |

The Cortland kid you are speaking of is Justin Wager I believe. He has as good a shot at winning the mile as anyone in that field, or at least to have his name mentioned. |

Actually, I just forgot his name. Justin something, I knew. . . What's the site for the DIII performance lists? Next time I'll be sure to look up the names and even spell them right! That was my point- Wager definitely impressed with his two-day triple at Valentine. I just forgot his name. . .sorry. No disrespect intended. |

raceberryjam.com I agree about the mile being stacked at the WIAC. Also I could see kaul helping oshkosh repeat as DMR champs, but since he did it last year and won, and oshkosh ran such a great time without him this year, i think he might just focus on winning the 5k. Either way it will be interesting. |
