Just called around Eugene and there's no more rooms. The Super8 is $259.99/nite and no more reservations. What a huge mistake choosing that little shit meth town for the trials !

Are the dorms sold-out? I'm paying $60/night with linen service and 3 meals/day. Yeah, it's not especially posh, but it's convenient, cheap, and should be a fun time.

One suggestion few people try but is worth it in a pinch: bring a good tent and find a campground. They don't charge much.
I love peeps

Meth town is a fairly accurate statement.

maybe its for the economy? Ok, I'm just gonna come out and say it.

Oregon is a wonderful state because of certain individuals that live there. Lets just say they have lots of sway in decision making processes.

This may sound like a silly question to ask, but here goes.

Are athletes gauranteed some type of housing. I mean I hope to qualify, I have for the last 3 USATF meets, but you never know what could happen. If I wait until I know I have the "a" standard (April or May) will there be a place?

Anyone with knowledge would be great.

USATF has really done a disservice to those of us who would like to spectate at this meet. In addition to being a difficult and expensive place to fly or drive to, there are no hotels.

While I don't love Indianapolis, having nationals there made a lot of sense. Hotel rooms are easy to get and not overpriced, and the central location makes it a moderate drive or short flight for most of the country.

Yeah, I guess it was nice sentiment to have the Trials in Eugene. But when you factor in the logistics and practicalities, it's a terrible choice.

I guess it's one of those 'ya snooze ya lose' situations and frankly I love it. It means only the die hard fans will be there. No wishy-washy "i'll go if nothing else is happening and tickets are cheap" fair weather fans.

Each day will be packed to the gills with 15,000 blood thirsty track lovers and the athletes are going to LOVE it.

I could actually see the after affect being another hotel or two built and continued large venues at Hayward field.

So long to the bare bones, Joe Shmuck spectator filled statiums where those same Joe's all get up to head home or get a hot dog and block my view when the 10K's start.

I bought all my tickets a while ago and I'm getting pumped!

Try making reservations sooner. You've only known that Eugene was going to be the site since...?

You may wish to try looking for rooms in Salem or Corvallis (45 and 30 miles drive respectively) or try Orbitz, Priceline, or Expedia to snag a cancellation closer to the meet dates.

Planning ahead works! This isn't the fault of USATF, USOC, George W. Bush, or any other popular Let's Run scapegoats.

If you've qualified for the last 3, shouldn't you know the answer to this question?

Trials should've stayed in Sacramento.

Hey USATF: if it is not broken, don't fix it!

I just called and they had 2 cancellations, so I was able to snag the room at $89.99/night. Keep calling, as people are cancelling due to whatever reasons.

I disagree. I anticipate that I will enjoy Eugene much more than Sacramento, assuming I can get tickets and a room! :)

Sacramento sucked sh!t. People were getting kicked out for standing up during a race. Hell, in Eugene you'll be sneered at if you don't stand up!!
for those about to rock
