It has been fabled that certain runners have attempted the "bicentennial," that is, 100 miles and 100 beers in one week. Many have tried, many have failed, but those few who have achieved this feat retain legacies that endure for decades, or at least a few weeks.... That being said, my teammate is attempting to beat the bicentennial and run more than 100 miles in a week while simultaneously drinking himself into a stupor (100+ beers (PBR only)). The week officially started yesterday with a 28.5 mile run and 7 beers. The 26.2 mile mark was reached in 3hrs 20mins. Total running time: 3hrs 41mins. Today's totals: Two runs totaling 17 miles (8 mile morning run, 9 mile evening run). Beer total: 11 and counting. Can this feat be completed? The motto is "Death Before Dishonor." I know he's going to do it, and I'll keep updating this thread, but I know that he'd like to hear what everyone else thinks. Encouragement is welcome. We'll keep you updated. |

good luck. it seems like the running is the easy part. 100 miles for any relatively high mileage runner is not that big of a deal. but 100 beers. a little over 14 a day. that is damn impressive. |

I feel like the best way to do this would be to frontload the milage and backload the drinking. Like start out running insane milage with a small amount of drinking so you can concentrate more on the drinking later without as much running. Like if you could be over 85 by the 4th day, you could just pound the beers and run lower milage for the last 3 days. Just my take. Good luck. |

That's a pretty ridiculous feat. Looks like your bud is doing pretty well mileage-wise, but has a lot of beer drinking left. Getting the mileage out of the way early is probably the way to do it though, because you can drink after being beat up from a run, but it's hard running after getting beat up by the drink. |

That's the plan. Hence the 28.5 mile run. I forgot to add that we're in the middle of finals here, so school work has to be factored into the equation. That's been holding him back as far as the beer consumption goes. Update: 10 beers tonight (17 total) |

When you say a Beer what exactly do you mean? How much is this Beer? and please don't say it's Bud 'H2O' Light |

12oz, non-light, 5% or more alcohol Thus far PBR has been the beer of choice. He's keeping the tabs on a chain around his neck. We'll post pictures once it becomes comical. New Beer Count for tonight: 11 and counting |

This has been discussed on this board ad nauseam. The true challenge is the triple century of 100 beers & 100 miles in 100 hours. Andy Holden of Great Britain is rumored to have completed this feat, and I doubt he was drinking bad American beer out of a can. |

i've only been a 60-70mpw guy...the beers on the other hand would be much easier to accomplish. perhaps thats reflective in my prs.... |

His pace seems good so far. I've thought and thought about the best way to do but for me it always comes down to drinking that much beer. I believe it can be done, but I hope there was some serious training before the attempt. He needs to ready himself for that much stupidity/greatness. |

if he throws up it doesn't count, right? |

One beer is subtracted from the total for each time he heaves. A heave is defined as a contraction of the stomach/attempt to expel the contents of one's stomach. Tonight's Beer Total: 13 and still going strong |

That's got to be such a weird week to live through. Though an alcoholic could handle 14 beers a day easily, but the 100 miles would be too much for them. Though, I think anyone who drinks 100 beers in a week might have some alcohol issues, now or down the road. |

I know someone that has had 100 beers in 100 hours. That guy is a bona-fide alcoholic and he barely was able to finish it. I think if this kid had any balls he'd go for the infamous 100/100/100 (100 beers - 100 miles - 100 hours). |
