If I were an elite runner in any of the NCAA divisions I would definitely stay away from this board. Reading all this criticism could easily f*** with my head. This board is good for people who aren't good enough to have their own coaches, and need people to bounce ideas off of. |

What difference does it really make what various opinions of runners are? If, as an elite runner, you allow letsrun scuttle butt to get you down, then you have issues far more serious than simply running fast. I know quite a few elites who not only read letsrun, but seem to run quite well in spite of whats said here. Biggest problem with letsrun are the insecure fanboys who get their nuts in a twist so easily, it's also the one of the best things about it, pure entertainment. Btw, BIG congrats to McDougal, my pick all along! |

You are right. I think you could see that even guys like Alan Webb read this stuff. After he won at the finals this year, he had quite a celebration. People ragged on him. When he got the American record, it looked like he was trying to hold it in rather show the emotion of a fiery guy who deserved and got the AR! Josh is truly a nice guy. Glad to see him win. He had a monkey he really needed to get off his back. My goodness, coming off of 115 mile week and winning the title- not bad. I guess it wouldn't be so big if he bumped up to marathon. |

Is there really that much negativity about him out here. In the past it seems like someone starts out with a post titled, "Mcdougal will win 5000", "Mcdouglas to run olympic marathon trials to make team", "Mcdougal to win it all" Then when he doesnt do it, someone calls out the original poster. Sure there is some criticism that goes a little too far-but that goes with any sport and its followers. If it bothers him he did the right thing to quit looking. But it by no means that most letsrun posters, or the majority of opinion out here is negative. |

The saying "A few bad apples can spoil a bushel of apples" has been around longer then the internet.. But living in DC area, sometimes leads to belief that it is the opposite "a few good apples in a bushel of bad ones" People have always said negative things about other people, but the internet makes it easier by allowing people to think that they are doing it anonymously with no fear of being held accountable for what they post. Please note that I said “that they think that they are doing it anonymously”. If someone made a threat or talked about something illegal, my guess would be that in most cases… the poster could be found quickly. Registration would be good except that it would have to involve more than typing in your email address. It would need something that can prove that you are who you say you are…. Credit Card, Notarized Document… some process that would require more work than Wejo would want. |

i think its great, he told it like it is. this message board IS toxic, and he charted the right course. good for him. the board jumped the shark about 8 months ago, with the continuing henry rono thread. |
