where does it say he's skipping the race?

"He set a US record of 57:54 for 20km when he finished 11th at the IAAF World Road Running Championships in Debrecen, Hungary, in October 2006, and in February he will defend the US 12km cross country title which he won last year by 27 seconds."

i'll bite my tongue on the username. the article doesn't say that, hence the reason the OP wrote "for more..." read the first line of the OP's post.

It's true that he's not going to do the cross country. It's been confirmed even by the race director.

well i figured he would run xc nats and then skip wxc because it would be kind of close to any spring marathon he chose. he'll be missing out on some great competition for sure. makes me wonder if the other mammoth people like meb, dobson, deena, etc will all pull out now too....

He's afraid of Ritz.

I still think this is a bullsh!t thread. Notice "wejo" didn't post under his registered name and the first post was from another anonymous person that just claimed to be letsrun. I think Hall will be at XC Nats.

Of course Hall is world class and probably knows what he is doing.
It just makes me wonder when you figure for example that running cross last year and all the other things he did brought him to the point where he is running sub 60 for a half, so 'why change things?' is my point.
I guess if he wasn't planning on doing worlds he figured why bother running trials. I'd be more interested to see how he could do at world cross 12km than at London Marathon. Best of luck to him whatever he does, very talented.

after watching Hall in the half video I seriously doubt he is afraid of anyone on the planet. He may not the fastest in the world but there is nobody he couldn't challenge in a distance race.

Meb isn't listed on the USATF website. Neither is Ryan.

They're both scared of Ritz.

Hall can go sub 2:10 in his debut. I hope he goes back to the track, however.

My apologies. I should have read more thoroughly. But when you post a claim such as the one posted, you generally look for a valid source to verify the claim, which is why I immediately assumed the link was that source.

The way the post was structured was somewhat misleading.

And for the record, Ritz can now breathe an enormous sigh of relief. Because he was going to get flat embarrassed.

Doubtful. He hung with the lead pack in Edinburgh and mixed it up with sub 27 minute 10K runners. Bekele broke away, but he's Bekele. It's not likely that Hall would be substantially faster than Ritz in XC.

those 27 min 10kers, with all due respect to Dathan Nathan, were not in shape, as it was one of the first races of the season. I'm sure Dathan was primed and ready. not a criticism.

First races of the season?? Are you kidding?? Eliud Kipchoge had run 26:55 a couple weeks before on the roads, setting a WR for the roads. Tadesse had been winning longer road races through the fall, and this was Bekele's second cross outting I believe. I think Ritzenhein's level of fitness for him was about the same as it was for the others. Why not give Ritzenhein the benefit of the doubt? He was coming off months worth of training for a marathon, meaning he was training his body to run at a slower pace for much longer distances. It was Ritzenhein's first outting as well. If anything, the others were probably more primed for this race than he was.

ritz is going to rock cross. btw ritz has said before he will often do cross being less prepared whereas in track he needs certain workouts before he feels good enough to race. the boulder high performance site or whatever its called has also said its been hard for ritz and co. to train because of the weather.
