They weren't going 67s...they were going 79s for the first few laps. Awesome race...so much anticipation was building up. No one wanted to lead. 5:16 first mile, 9:52 at 3K. 16:15 at 5K. They strung out a few times, and bunched back up until Nef threw in a 62 with about 7 laps to go...He pushed for 500m and then Rupp said...alright then, let's keep going. They did drop back to 70s, but with 800 to go, Nef surged again, only to have Cheseret sail on by with 600 to go, and he never looked back.

-actually, it was 16:08.8 at 5k
-The 200m split from 600 to go to 400 to go was 28 by cheseret
-one of the early laps was an 83
this is impressive.

uh... correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think Rupp qualified for nationals in the 10 000m....

Why don't your give Galen a break...he's recovering from a recently diagnosed medical problem. However, allow me to say this in terminology that you might appreciate a bit more...

"uh... correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think your 10K PR is anywhere near Rupp's...."

Go take your jealous attitude back to DyeStat, kid.
this is impressive.

wow, a lot of hosility there. I was simply reply to the guy that said that he would come up big at nationals. Thats not really possible if he hasn't qualified. I wasn't trying to bash anyone. And I don't think my 10 000m PR is very relevant to this conversation is it? Either way, sorry you interpreted my post to be hostile towards Galen Rupp. He is in fact, faster than me in the 10 000m.

As scotth has been known to say, I call B.S. on this one.

It's easy to apologize after somebody calls you out, but when they use an alias like "this is impressive," and then say something like "uh... correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think Rupp qualified for nationals in the 10 000m....", it's a little difficult to believe that he wasn't trying to make negative comments about Rupp.
Cool guy

He was checking a fact that he though to be true that would go against what someone above him posted. He's being realistic, not negative.

No way...you must be surfing to the wrong web domains, because the comparison isn't even close.

Yes, it's true that you get more bozos posting stupid little things on LetsRun because of the anonymous login names. However, the kids on DyeStat often act the same way (or worse), even though they are tied down to a single user name! I have seen more than one prominent D-I coach stop posting on DyeStat because of the immature attitudes on their message board. They try to offer the teenagers the benefit of their personal perspective and expertise, and while most of them are great, far too many cop an attitude...

"No way, you're wrong! Yeah, I'm only 17, but my Dad and brother have been running for years, so I know more than YOU!"

LoL!! Thankfully, Steve Underwood and crew do a pretty good job of keeping the kids with a serious attitude in check, but that's a full time job.

i agree that while there are more knowledgeable posters about the sport on letsrun, the amount of idiocy on letsrun far outnumbers the amount on dyestat. FOr the most part forums (not pertaining to nicole blood) are moderated and its pretty tame, but hardly ever when you post your opinion about an elite runner will you hear the phrase "his 10k pb is faster than yours, so shutup and go back to letsrun"
hahahahahahahahah

Men - Team Rankings - 21 Events Scored
================================================================================
1) USC 140 2) Oregon 133.50
3) Arizona 122 4) Washington 99
5) UCLA 97.50 6) Arizona State 76
7) Stanford 60 8) California 53
9) Wash State 37

That's what happened. The team with NO distance points--but probably some of the field event points that Smith got last year--won.
