track and field news is reporting alan webb will make his 10k track debut at stanford versus dathan ritzenhiem, it says ritz will not try to break the american record, i say ritz in 2732 and webb in 2737 the report did not say who else is running, hopefully chebwoiyo and abdi who both may run under 2720. |
| Wonder what Webb's capable of |
| ||
|
it should be interesting to see how much stamina Webb has for a longer race. He is certainly capable of a big performance considering he ran a 13:10 last year at the end of the season despite not really training for a 5k. Ritz better put him away by 8-8.5k because if Webb is close to him within the last mile he will destroy him. |

More like 100 in the next 2 days . . . With that said, I'll give Ritz the nod. |

Didn't Webb win the USA 10k XC Championships a few years back? And place 4th in the 12k the year after? As shakey as Ritz has been for the past couple years and as solid as Webb has been, I wouldn't be surprised to see Webb beat Ritz at his own game. Webb wins in 27:50. |

webb did run 28:53 i think at ncaa's xc. so we can count on webb throwing down a big time i think. i just hope that the time he took off from his sickness does not come back to haunt him. |

I don't think Webb'd get out there if he weren't fit. If the time off set him back he'd start the season later. or that's what I think he'd do. but who the hell am I? I don't know anything. |
| bad logic |

what matters is webbs 10k potential vs. ritzs 10k potential. ive outkicked guys who could beat me by 10s in a mile the last 150m of a 5k race and ive been kicked down by guys slower than me the last 150m of a race. if webb is worth 2800 and ritz is worth 2745 on an ideal day and they are running 2800 pace through 5 miles, ritz would crush webb the last mile. your absolutes have no credibility. |

except for if Webb is in better shape for a 28:00, which most people can safely say that he is. |
| nope nope |
| ||
|
"which most people safely say he is"??? are you serious? how can anyone know what kind of shape is he in if he hasn;t raced in the last three months. no one knows what effect the sickness had on him. come on, no one can SAFELY say he is in 28:00 shape or any shape for that matter. the only safe thing they can do is hypothesize about it. unless they are Webb or actually asked him what his form was currently. |

would Webb enter this race if he wasn't prepared to run a fast 10k? use your brain. |
| nope nope |
| ||
|
1. we don't know he is definitely racing. 2. we don't know if he does show up if he is just rabbiting. simple assumptions. |

Dumb move by Webb. |

Would Geb enter London if he knew he was going to run 2:09?, athletes dont know exactly whats going to happen, Webb could think he is in 27:45 shape and DNF or run 28:30 |

They are both lucky that Cabada is not running. |

Gotta go with Ritz in the 10k. Webb should still pop a good one, but 5k is his upper limit for real world class range. It's great to see him not afraid to jump up in distance, though. Hopefully he can hang on for a sub 27:30... |
