Oh. Is that all? Well, they'll get faster this summer. Not a bad start. Like a rustbuster. |

Wariner looked very strong in the race, which was run under fairly ideal conditions -- temp in the mid-70s and only a light wind. Wariner, running in lane 4, had made up the stagger on Williamson in lane 5 coming out of the first turn. I don't know what his 200 split was, but he was out clearly leading the field. He had a substantial lead coming into the homestretch and held his form well to run what may be one of the faster times this year. It still wasn't a meet record, though; Michael Johnson ran 43.75 back in 1997 or 1998. Williamson closed very well over the last 150 to pass a number of runners. And 44.88 isn't a bad start for him at all. |

44.12 in April is very, very good. Along with his 200m PR earlier in the year it appears to me he will continue to improve. I say he runs 20.10 and 43.70 this year. |

There is a decent chance that no other runner will run 44.12 this year. Last year no one else did. |

Prediction: Wariner 42.98 this year. |

43.75 by Johnson is the 'April' record. 44.12 is the #2 all-time for April. Nobody runs a PB in April... |

Smoking time...I believe that would be a national record for any other country. |

You're right -- the fastest non-USA time for 400m is Roberto Hernández's Cuban national record at 44.14. |
