prospect park hills vs central park hills 4/3/2009 12:29PM Reply | Return to Index | Report Post
I haven't been to prospect for a while. How does the hilliness compare on each of the outside loops around the park, respectively? Which is an "easier" course?

I think central park is harder. Prospect going counterclockwise is comparable but going clockwise is easier.

Prospect Park is easier. Fewer hills and not as steep as CP. CP loop is 6 miles and PP is 3 to 4 miles.

If you run by me in prospect, please be nice. I was fast once, but not anymore.

prospect park is basically a steady decline for 1/2 and steady incline for 1/2, so it's a lot less steep and less rolling than CP. it's about 3.3 around the loop. that said, the uphill is fairly long as your approach grand army plaza so it's still challenging.

Prospect Park essentially has one hill. It's long, but there are far fewer undulations or rhythm changes required than in Central Park.

Any estimate on what a Prospect Park 5k would equal on a flat course?
This is the course that begins and ends at the south end of the park.
