Forgive me if this has already been brought up on a different thread, but didn't Ryan Hall's 25km split 1:13:47 break Fernando Cabada's 25km record of 1:14:21 set in 2006? Is this a legit split? Has it been recognized officially as a new AR? |

Well that's important, because people train for the 25k all the time. Did he break the 23k record, or the 27k? How about the 28k? |

If they did not have official timing at that location, than I doubt it. Then Khannouchi would have the 25 km record and not Cabada or Hall. |

brian sell is training for the 25k right now. and going after the 25k record. |

25K is a USATF Championship distance. I'd say that the distance is less popular, but FAR from pointless. |

According to Flora London Marathon documents this is why the 25k record is not eligible for a world record (or an AR for that matter): "There are no time keepers at the 25km point because, at 8.5m above sea level, this is more than a 25-metre drop from the start (39.459m asl) so 25km times are not eligible for official records. The 30km mark (10.794m on the north side of road, 10.558m on the south side) is within the limit for records." This however doesn't explain the 30k conundrum. Ryan ran 1:28.38 for the 30k which according to the above statement should be eligible for a new AR considering the old one is 1:31.49 set by Phil Coppess in 1985. I'm not sure if you caught that but Ryan ran the 30k split a full THREE MINUTES (and 11 seconds) faster than the current 30k AR.. |

KK's London half split was 62:46 versus Hall's at 62:13, so I think Hall went through 25K faster than KK did in London. I can't find an accurate split for 25K from that race, though. |

Let's do the math. Khannouchi finished 39 seconds ahead of Hall's time and he ran his first half 33 seconds slower, meaning that he ran his second half 72 seconds faster. I don't think he made up the 33-second gap Hall had at halfway in less than 4 km. |

Who really thinks of Khannouchi as an American??! |

http://www.alltime-athletics.com/m30kroad.htm According to this list, KK is 23 seconds slower than Hall at 30K. So, if KK went through half slower than Hall (33 seconds) and 30K slower than Hall (23 seconds), perhaps 25K was slower? |

Hmm, I hadn't seen that list before malmo. I just got the information off the usatf website. So why doesn't the usatf website credit Randy Thomas with the american record? By the way, I'm sure this is an obvious answer but where did you get that list? |

1. Welcome to Letsrun. 2. That explains it. 3. Ask them, maybe they'll respond. 4. I'll bet he download the list from ARRS, http://www.arrs.net/ |

Thanks for the welcome answerman. I've been here for a while, but it's always nice to feel welcome, even if the welcome is extended sarcastically. I do appreciate the link though. Thank you. |
