LRC Who Won Our 2017 Running Warehouse Worlds Prediction Contest? A Londoner, a Guy from Portugal, and a Guy Who Used to Manage the Guam Track Team

See who the kings and queens of LetsRun.com are. Our contest winners this time are by far the most impressive group running-wise in the history of contest winners on LRC.

3 Wire Sports:

Abrahamson gives some analysis and thinks Hero should be track and field's official brand ambassador. He says, "Don’t laugh at any of this. Mascots are big stuff." (Includes a video highlight reel.)

The New York Times:

The article gives props to the IAAF for being a "lone wolf" with the Russian ban and reminds you not to feel too much (or any) pity for the neutral Russians who had to compete without a country.

Athletics Weekly:

Farah complained of Ethiopian team tactics which kept him out of position going into the final lap, but the case is that Edris' last 200, 400, 1000 and 3000 splits were just as good as anything Farah's ever done when he won previous Worlds.

USATF:

There were a lot of "firsts" and records for Team USA including Justin Gatlin's record as the oldest man (he's 35) to ever win 100m gold.

ESPN.com:

With Jamaica a DNF, this was USA's race to dominate as they won by 5.98-seconds over the UK and Poland. This gives Felix her 11th career world gold, putting her tied with Usain Bolt for the most.

LRC Flash Women's 800: Caster Semenya Runs Negative Splits To Take Gold As Ajee Wilson Fights Hard For Bronze

Francine Niyonsaba and Ajee Wilson threw the best challenge at her they could, but in the end Caster Semenya was just too good and took her third world title (fifth global gold) in a PB and NR of 1:55.16.

The Telegraph:

On his start line gesture Chelimo said, "It is what it is, I just meant that I was going to take Mo down."
*2nd article Muktar Edris also did the "Mobot" as he won, but said it was out of respect for Farah.

The Guardian:

The writer takes a shot at Wayde van Niekerk's BBC interview where "needed a live-TV hug, lasting about 20.09 seconds ... before he could jabber again."
