Oklahoma States German Fernandez is Giving Up His Eligibility to Turn Pro

German Fernandez placed 11th in his semi-final heat at the US Olympic Track and Field Trials in 3:43.78 and afterwards said it was his last race in Oklahoma State uniform as he has secured Tom Ratcliffe as an agent and will not be using his remaining eligibility at OSU. Fernandez who has already graduated from OSU, had a full-outdoor season left, and likely could have gotten another indoor season back.

Fernandez who won NCAAs as a true freshman in 2009, said he is not sure where he will train next year but he will consult with coach Dave Smith and Ratcliffe. Despite his incredible success at the 1500 as a true freshman in 2009, Fernandez says he believes his best distances are the 5,000 and 10,000m.

We'll have more quotes from Fernandez but the interview is below.
