The New York Road Runners had a teleconference on Tuesday with 2012 US Olympic Marathoner Abdi Abdirahman, who it was announced will be running the Healthy Kidney 10km in Central Park with fellow US Olympic Marathoners Meb Keflezighi and Ryan Hall on May 12. Also on the call was American 5000m star and recent World 3000m indoor champion, Bernard Lagat, who trains with Abdirahman.

With the three American Olympic marathon stars announced and the Kenyan 10,000m Trials three weeks after Healthy Kidney, NYRR CEO Mary Wittenberg said of the Healthy Kidney field, "There will be a bit of an international field, but definitely our priority is giving a great show to the fans of our men's American team. Our priority is giving a great show to the fans of our men's American team."

Abdi and Bernard spent much of the call talking of their friendship. They've been friends since 1997 when they were Pac 10 rivals. The full transcript of the call is here.

The news of note was that Lagat announced his racing schedule through the Olympics. Abdi also said he won't be doing the Olympic Track Trials 10,000m.

Here's what Lagat said of his schedule after asked by LetsRun.com:

"On the 28th (of April) I'll be running the Penn Relay stuff like I did last year, then come back to Flagstaff for another two weeks, which will take me to May. Then my first race really will be the Pre Classic, which I'm going to do the 2 mile. Then I'm going to go to New York (for the New York Grand Prix). After New York will be the U.S. Trials on the 25th and 28th, then go to Europe, run on the 6th (of July), 5,000m in Paris. The 10th of July will be London, 1,500 or 1 mile, and that will be the end of my pre‑Olympic races, and then will be training for London afterwards, of course if I make the team, and I hope I'll make the team."

Bernard Lagat's Tentative Schedule:
April 28th Penn Relays (1600 or 1200 on DMR)
June 2 Pre Classic 2 Mile
June 9 adidas Grand Prix in NYC (Lagat didn't say what he was running but there is a non Diamond League 1500 here, plus an 800 DL. We'd bet he runs the 1500)
June 25, June 28 Olympic Trials 5000m (The 1500 prelim is on the 28th before the 5000m final so the double is out)
July 6 Paris Diamond League 5000m
July 13 London Emsley Carr Mile (Note Bernard said July 10th, but we think he meant July 13th the date of the DL meet)
August 8 5000m Round 1 of Olympics
August 11 5000m Final of Olympics

While Lagat is off from July 13th until the Olympics there is one more Diamond League event in Monaco on the 20th.
