Chris Solinsky, Mo Farah, Shalane Flanagan, and Alberto Salazar Reaction at 2011 Pre Classic Distance Night in Eugene

By LetsRun.com
June 3, 2011

We'll have more coverage later but we figure at this hour only the hardest core of the hard core are up. In case you don't know, Moses Mosop smashed the 30k WR on the track, Vivian Cheruiyot won the women's 5000m, and in the featured event the men's 10,000m Brit Mo Farah ran a 26:46.57 European record to get the huge upset win. It was a hugely disappointing day for the Americans as Galen Rupp warmed up but didn't start (allergies), Chris Solinsky dropped out 3000m in, and Shalane Flanagan came up short of the American record. We have the American reaction below plus reaction from Mo Farah.

Post race comments below from the Americans and Farah.

An Upset Chris Solinsky on Dropping Out

Chris had a hamstring issue that caused him to drop out at 3000m when he was still ahead of eventual winner Mo Farah. Chris talks about that and Galen Rupp being in the starting area underneath the stadium but not starting.

Alberto Salazar on Mo Farah Winning and Galen Rupp Not Starting

Alberto says he knew Mo Farah could run this type of time and it must mean well for Galen Rupp, but he was surprised Mo defeated some of the world's best. Plus, Alberto says he had some special allergy testing done on Friday for Galen and that is why he did not start although he allowed him to warm up.

Shalane Flanagan Talks About Her 5000m Opener

Shalane says nothing out of the ordinary but the most interesting thing was a guy asks her to sign a one dollar bill.

Mo Farah After Winning the Prefontaine 10,000m

Farah talks about going basically from last to first and winning the star studded Prefontaien 10,000m and what it means for his career.
