USA Junior running phenom Jordan Hasay of the University of Oregon competed at the opening night of the IAAF World Juniors 3000m on Monday night in Canada and came away with an outdoor pb of 9:15.78 (she's run 9:12 indoors). She was the top American in 9th place and just ahead of USA junior 3k champ Emily Sisson who will be a freshman at the University of Wisconsin who ran 9:16.80 for 10th.
The 3000m was held in conjunction with the opening ceremonies and was the only event of the evening.
Hasay told the Eugene Register Guard afterwards, "It was good to see what I need to do to run longer races at this level. I got to shake out my legs and see where Im at. Weve been focused on the 1,500."
Up next for Hasay in the 1500m which starts on Friday.
