For immediate release –

Mo Farah (GBR) won the European Cup 10,000m tonight in Marseille with a confident front running display, only 5 days after breaking his own British 10k Record on the street of London on Monday.  The 27 year old clocked 27:28.86 to move ahead of close friend Chris Thompson as the 3rd fastest British runner of all time and the fastest European in 2010.  With help from Kenyan pacemaker Philemon Limo, Farah went through 5km a little behind schedule in 13:50 but already 70m clear of the chasing group.  He was alone passing 8km in 22:05 and continued to reel off laps of 66 seconds.  A penultimate lap of 63 followed by a final lap of 58 secs brought him home well inside the qualifying time for the European T&F Championships which will take place in Barcelona in July.
