Defar and Dibaba To Take Separate Cracks At 5000m Indoor World Record

Ethiopian 5000m world record holders Tirunesh Dibaba and Meseret Defar will be lining up in separate venues several days apart in an attempt to lower the indoor 5000m world record.

Dibaba will race the 5000m at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games on February 6th. She has an indoor best of 14:27 run three years ago in the 2007 Reebok Boston meet. Dibaba holds the outdoor 5000m world record of 14:11.15.

Defar, the current indoor 5000m world record-holder at 14:24.37, returns to Stockholm, Sweden where she set the record last year. Her race will take place in Globen Hall on February 10th. Defar has an outoor best of 14:12.
