DN Galan Meet Director, Rajne Soderberg, decided a few years ago to take some of the events of his track and field meet to the masses. First up was the shot put, which is now held in the city center.
American Christian Cantwell, unstoppable in 2010, saved the best for last. He threw 22.09, his second-best throw of the year, on his final throw to win the Diamond League event.
Video of Cantwell's put is below.
Afterwards, Cantwell told Reuters of the unique event, "I hope that somebody came out that knew nothing about the sport today and liked what they saw, it got them excited and given them a reason to come back the next year." We couldn't say it better.
