LetsRun.com NCAA Cross Country Polls: Stanford Men and Washington Women #1: October 27, 2009

by: LetsRun.com
October 27, 2009

*October 15, 2009 LRC Poll (OSU Men #1, Washington Women)

After last week's crucial Pre NCAA action and heading into this weekend's NCAA conference action, the LetsRun.com 2009 NCAA Cross Country Polls are out again and  Jason Dunn's Stanford Cardinal men and Greg Matcalfe's Washington Husky women are #1.

On the men's side, Stanford's dominating 47 performance at the preNCAA Blue race was enough for them to overtake Oklahoma State in the men's rankings with the LetsRun.com faithful. Oregon stayed steady at #3 in the men's rankings, NAU stayed at #4 and Colorado parlayed its runner-up to Stanford to move up one spot to #5.

On the women's side, the Washington Huskies have been a dominant #1 all year in the LetsRun.com rankings and the coaches' polls. The big winner this week was Mark Wetmore's Colorado Buffs. Colorado moved up 5 spots in the LRC rankings this week to #2 after their stunning win at the preNCAA meet. (If you needed any proof the letsrun.com fan is smarter than the coaches how about this: Colorado was only ranked #19 in the country by the coaches prior to the pre NCAA meet.). Oregon dropped a spot to #3, Villanova dropped one spot to #4 and Florida State moved up into the top 5.

The next LetsRun.com polls will open up after this weekend's conference action and will also include the NCAA Regional rankings.

Below we have the LetsRun.com Natoinal and Conference Polls.

More LRC NCAA Coverage: LRC PAC-10 Cross-Country Preview USC hosts the most elite conference battle in the country as powerhouses Stanford and Oregon battle on the men's side and Washington looks to roll again on the women's. Can Jordan Hasay win it as a freshman? For the men, which super-soph will lead their team to victory, Luke Puskedra or Chris Derrick?

LRC Big XII Cross-Country Preview Oklahoma State and 2008 individual champion German Fernandez head to Missouri hoping to hold off Mark Wetmore's pack-running Colorado Buffaloes. On the women's side, Jenny Barringer has never finished better, or worse, than 2nd place at the Big XIIs; think 2009 might be her year to earn her first conference crown?

LRC
Big Ten Preview The Big Ten in cross-country is sort of like the Big Ten in football ... some pretty good teams but lacking top notch firepower. Will the mysterious Wisconsin men get their 11th consecutive title and will Angela Bizzarri roll over the host Nittany Lions and Bridget Franek?
