Ryan Shay Being Remembered in Central Park Ben Andrews who ran track for Oregon in the late 90s wrote us the following email and attached the photos below. I ran track at Oregon and distinctly remember watching Ryan win the NCAA title @ Hayward Field. I spoke very briefly with him after the race and you would have thought I had given him a $1,000,000 because he was so appreciative for saying something to him. On Tuesday before leaving NYC, I took a run through Central Park and ended up at the spot where I last saw Ryan a few days prior. I sat there for about 30 minutes and saw probably 50 people stop and pay their respects; some talked to rock and flowers, some read the note attached by the family and a few others sat down and said a prayer. It appears the running community now has two rocks; Pre's in Eugene, OR and Ryan's in Central park, NYC. I took a picture of the display his family had erected. Please feel free to post/add to gallery as you see fit.
