Conference XC Action is Here: Sunday: Big
10s: Wisconsin
Men Win Big 10s for 8th Straight Time, Michigan
Women WinWisconsin
would have beaten the rest of the Big 10s in
a dual meet but the win was not as impressive
as last year and it is being called an "off
day". The major area of concern for the
Badgers is that NCAA favorite Chris Solinsky
was comfortably ahead, fell down with
reportedly 2.5k to go, and then lost 30
seconds coming in as Minnesota soph Chris
Rombough got the title. *Big 10 Men's Results: Wisconsin Beats the Field Again

And once again Njenga came up short at Chicago as Cheruiyot got the win (2:07:35) but then slipped on the finishing logo and fell really hard hitting his head on the concrete nearly knocking himself out. He had to be taken away on a stretcher and went to the emergency room as a precaution. Abdi Abdirahman hung with the leaders like he said he would and stayed with them for 35k and ended up running 2:08:56 for 4th (the 2nd fastest ever by an American on a certified course), Brian Sell 2:10:48 pr for 6th. The race was a complete disaster for the Chasing Kimbia guys. Women: Constantina Dita went out on a suicidal pace 1:08:05 and faded badly in the second half getting passed 2:04 into the race. It came down to a final mile dual between Berhane Adere and Galina Bogomolova with Adere pulling away to win in 2:20:32, a national record. Benita Johnson got the Australian national record in 3rd. isn't always better:
"I had over-trained. I put too much pressure on myself because I wanted
that gold medal too much. If I had trained 15 per cent less, I would
have won. I was training like a crazy person. There was a lack of

Kenya is trying to come to America. I had
no dream about coming because I knew this was impossible. It was a
miracle," Kiplagat said. "That is why I take advantage of
every
opportunity. I came here, graduated in three years, and count myself
blessed"- Richard Kiplagat who graduated from Iona in 3 years and had a
3.75 GPA
"This
is not coming out of retirement, this is just me showing that
if you just enjoy what you are doing and stay in there and set little
goals. I do a lot of speaking, I've spoken to every group in Australia

tell them back when I ran I set little goals and I think here I am
telling these guys, but I've got to do it myself and tonight was really
a chance to walk the walk"
