"I had over-trained. I put too much pressure on myself because I wanted that gold medal too much. If I had trained 15 per cent less, I would have won. I was training like a crazy person. Berlin Golden League Recap: Dibaba Falls, Wariner, Powell, and Richards Golden, LetsRun.com Jinxes Lagat Cornelius Horan did not appear at the meet, but clearly the gods were on Bob Kennedy's side as Kennedy kept his American 5k record. Kenenisa Bekele was the only runner to go with the rabbits and was the only one to break 13 minutes as Bernard Lagat ran a very subpar 13:12. The women's 5k was the best race of the afternoon as the fix was definitely not on. Tirunesh Dibaba needed to win to claim her share of the $1 million jackpot. Kara Goucher and Lauren Fleshman were in the lead pack at the bell and then all hell broke loose. Dibaba ran 56 seconds for her final 400m, the only problem was Defar ran even faster to edge her at the line. (Yes 56.7 for the final lap (some of our faith in humanity was restored because the onscreen split was originally 53.7)) to cause Dibaba to have a $125,000 paycut.. Jeremy Wariner, Sanya Richards, and Asafa Powell all won to win $249,999.

Wilfred Bungei
outkicked David Krummenacker in an exciting race as both the Kenyan team and USA team broke the 24 year old 4*800 world record (7:03.89). Asafa Powell won the 100 despite a horrible start and became the first man to run 10 sub 10s in one season. Jeremy Wariner and Sanya Richards won the 400s and to stay alive in the Golden League Jackpot hunt. Saif Shaheen went out way too fast in the steeple going out in 2:34 and faded to 8:03, Jen Rhines ran 14:55, just 4 seconds off of Deena Kastor's American record (we don't recognized drug cheat's records), Adam Goucher broke 28 for 10k as Micah Kogo ran 26:35.
