Where Your Dreams Become Reality

And to the Runner Up Go the Spoils:
"I could never thank Alberto (Salazar) enough. He's changed our lives. Whether we run bad or not, we've just changed the way we look at everything... Alberto is what turned us around... We're just more positive. A lot of the chips that were on our shoulders are gone. And we're living our lives for the right reason. We were injured and a little bitter and angry and he helped us to see that was ridiculous and (that) we're two lucky people".

LetsRun.com Recap Incredible Distance Action with 5k and 10k Finals
The night where Marion Jones and Justin Gatlin got all the national media attention might have been the greatest one night in terms of quality distance action ever at nationals. Thanks to Thursday's storm there were 4 distance finals (men's and women's 10ks and 5ks). And each final came down to the final 200m. First up was Lauren Fleshman holding back a revitalized Kara Goucher, then it was Bernard Lagat doubling back to win an incredibly strong men's 5k, Jorge Torres and a possible changing of the guard in the mens' 10k, plus Amy Rudolph outsprinting Bolder Boulder champ Sarah Slattery. We detail all the final distance action, and you hear high praise for Alberto Salazar, hear about Alan Webb's plan to run the 10k, learn about Jorge Torres marathon plans, and we even talk about the near fisticuffs after Heat 1 of the men's 1500. If that doesn't convince you to read the link above nothing will.

Jore Torres A Late Entrant

Since 1999, Meb Keflezighi, Abdi Abdirahman, and Alan Culpepper have had a stranglehold on the 10k in the United States. Meb and Abdi are at it again on day 1 of the championships on Thursday. Who will come out on top? Or can newcomer Anthony Famiglietti start a new era in US 10,000m running? On the women's side it should be a threeway battle between Saarah Slattery, Amy Rudolph, and Katie McGregor. We preview Day 1's action.

"Everybody in Kenya is trying to come to America. I had no dream about coming because I knew this was impossible. It was a miracle," Kiplagat said. "That is why I take advantage of every opportunity. I came here, graduated in three years, and count myself blessed"- Richard Kiplagat who graduated from Iona in 3 years and had a 3.75 GPA

"This is not coming out of retirement, this is just me showing that if you just enjoy what you are doing and stay in there and set little goals. I do a lot of speaking, I've spoken to every group in Australia and I tell them back when I ran I set little goals and I think here I am telling these guys, but I've got to do it myself and tonight was really a chance to walk the walk"
