Where Your Dreams Become Reality

Quote of the Day:
"It was kind of like the perfect storm. For one reason or another we wound up collecting in Boulder in '74, '75. We all trained together. We all worked hard and played hard. I ran 29:06 for 10K and wasn't even the fastest guy on my street. None of us knew how good we were. None of us knew how bad we were. We just all thought, 'If he can make the Olympic team, so can I."

-Steve Flanagan (father of current US distance star Shalane) in an excellent article by John Meyer in the Denver Post on Boulder and the legends who used to train there and how it is different from the Boulder of today

Ramzi Defeats Lagat in Record Time

The matchup between
Rachid Ramzi and Bernard Lagat did not disappoint as Ramzi outsprinted Lagat to win the 1500m record in the fastest time ever recorded on American soil. Alan Webb had a really off day in the men's two mile and faded badly in the second mile to finish 6th. Jeremy Wariner was 2nd in the 200, Sanya Richards won her 200 and Veronica Campbell went sub 11 in the 100.

Justin Gatlin Loses His World Record Well technically he now just has to share it with Asafa Powell but this shows the boys in Qatar were a little eager for a world record. Also, at first the meet announced the wind was 2.0 mps, the maximum wind allowable for world record purposes, and then it was later changed to 1.7mps. Gatlin and Fasuba did blow away Shawn Crawford who finished 3rd. The question is whether it was wind aided or not.

It's Logical to Us, Let the Track Athletes Train on Their Own as Well:
"It beats logic how marathoners can prepare on their own and still manage to fly Kenya's flag high while track athletes continue performing dismally. Foreign agents have taken charge of the marathon and things seem to be working yet with all the sponsorship at their disposal, Athletics Kenya (AK) is unable emulate the same."

"I had over-trained. I put too much pressure on myself because I wanted that gold medal too much. If I had trained 15 per cent less, I would have won. I was training like a crazy person.
