Berhane Adere, Rita Jeptoo, Kim Smith, Benita Johnson, Jo Pavey Ro Race Hydo Active Women's Challenge in London on Sunday and Paula Radcliffe is Running as Well Jo Pavey, who set a lifetime 5000m best a week ago at Brussels (14:39:96), will now join an illustrious elite field in London's Hyde Park on Sunday, competing with Benita Willis-Johnson (AUS), 2004 winner of the Great North Run (67:55), and sixth in the Flora London Marathon in 2006 (2:26:32); Susan Chepkemei (KEN), third in London Marathon 2006 (2:21:46); Berhane Adere (ETH), fourth in the Flora London Marathon this year (2:21:52); Rita Jeptoo (KEN), following in her victory in this year's Boston Marathon in April (2:23:38), and Kimberley Smith (NZL), who carved nine seconds off her New Zealand national 5000m record in Brussels on Friday (14:56:58), and Eloise Poppett-Wellings (AUS). Paula Radcliffe will drop the starters flag and will then join the rest of the field to take part in the ninth running of the UK's premier 5k women's road running event, The Hydro Active Women's Challenge, taking place in Hyde Park, London on Sunday 3rd September. Simultaneously, races will be starting at 11am in Sefton Park in Liverpool, and at the slightly earlier time of 10.30am in Birmingham City Centre, and a figure of more than two and half million pounds is expected to be raised for over 1600 different charities from the three events in London, Birmingham and Liverpool. 'We are very pleased to announce the addition of Jo Pavey to such a strong field, and of course we naturally welcome the involvement of three times Flora London Marathon winner, World marathon record holder and current World Marathon champion, Paula Radcliffe', said Race Director David Bedford. The British challenge will now be led by Pavey, closely followed by Mara Yamauchi, sixth in the 2006 Flora London Marathon (2:25:13) and 19th in the 10,000m at Gothenburg (32:07:90). A total field of 20,000 women are expected to line up in London, and amongst these runners will be the familiar faces of Jo Brand, Miranda Richardson, Floella Benjamin, Lisa L'Anson, Jenny Agutter and The Cheeky Girls. The elite fields in Birmingham include Victoria Mitchell (AUS), who runs alongside Polish 1500m champion Justyna Lesman, and Grazyna Syrek (POL), who finished 19th in the 10,000m at Gothenburg (32:53.33). Competing in Liverpool will be Marathon record breaker Tegla Loroupe (KEN), winner of this event in 2000 in London, and who also established her second mixed race World record in Berlin in 1999 (2:20:43), and Sonia O'Sullivan (AUS/IRE), Champion of this event both in London in 2002 and 2004 and silver medal winner at the 2000 Olympics 5000m, and eighth in the 2005 Flora London Marathon in a personal best time of 2:29:01.
