Amy Mortimer of West Roxbury, Mass., set a course record at this afternoon's Millennium Mile, a downhill road mile* held in Londonderry, N.H.

Mortimer, 24, scorched the course in 4 minutes and 20 seconds, four seconds ahead of course record holder Katie McGregor, the reigning U.S. 10,000m champion.  McGregor had set the 4:27 course record in 2002.

Canadian 1500m record holder Kevin Sullivan won the men's race in 3 minutes and 53 seconds, one second up on former Brown University star, Patrick Tarpy.  Sullivan fell two seconds short of the 3:51 course record jointly held by Scott Anderson (1999) and Andy Downin (2001).  Sullivan and Tarpy were the only athletes to break the four minute mark today.

The race recorded a record 674 finishers, despite cold conditions.
